Overview
The Roland Revo 30 (effectively the amplifier head from the Revo Sound System) is a vintage Japanese-made analog rotary speaker and Leslie simulator produced by Roland around 1975 to 1978. Rather than using a physical spinning horn or rotor, it uses an internal Bucket Brigade Device (BBD) IC chip circut (acting as a phase-shift/chorus/vibrato engine, often compared to the original Uni-Vibe) to pan and modulate sound across stereo or quadraphonic outputs.
Specs
- Analog rotary/chorus effect unit and power amplifier
- Mid-to-late 1970s (approx. 1975–1978)
- Power Output: 30 watts total (15 watts per channel into stereo outputs)
- Circuitry: Uses a Bucket Brigade Device (BBD) IC chip for delay, chorus, and phase-shifting modulation
- Modulation Depth Settings: 3 settings (Soft, Medium, and Deep) to control the intensity of the low-frequency oscillator (LFO) parameters
- Speed / Rotation Settings: Push-button or switch selectors for Off (dry signal), Slow (chorale effect), and Fast (tremolo-style rotation/ramp-up)
- Controls: Power switch with indicator light, Balance control, and overall Volume
- Inputs & Outputs: Originally designed to drive a dedicated pair of stereo speakers via speaker/RCA-style outputs; can be adapted for standard 1/4-inch guitar jacks or live-level conversion
- Ideal Sources: Guitars, electric pianos, organs, and studio production processing (such as on synths or percussion)
- Serial number: 432089
