Overview
Hollowbody? Offset? Why don't we do both! This vintage head-turner came to us as a complete mystery. There are very few examples of this particular model online. However this shape was produced by Teisco-Gen-Gakki in the 1960s. Greco sold this funky shape in the 1960s as the "Model 990." Toledo also marketed this guitar as the "1202T", with a couple of other legacy Japanese guitar brands selling the model, too.
This guitar was manufactured in approximately 1967, putting it in the centre of the experimental era, before any lawsuit replicas.
This guitar truly has that vintage feeling all over. As expected, the neck is on the chunkier and rounder side and body is substantial, yet still lightweight. While, this guitar isn't for fast, face-melting playing, it is an excellent choice for surf and indie rockers and those playing more atmospheric styles. However, if you're partial to some high-fidelity garage/trashy tones, you may have just stumbled upon your dream guitar, with thanks to the two original single coil pickups. Raw, fuzzy and with lots of bite.
