Important Information
A very rare Australian made Maton Bindara bass that's lived under a bed for over 40 years in great condition (likely late 60's).
This is one of 100 ever made. The label has come off and we haven't been able to identify the particular model, but it sounds fantastic. The low E on the saddle isn't completely attached to the body but we've gotten it as close we can without interupting the structural integrity.
The way this bass plays is completely unique, and you likely won't find anything like it on the acoustic bass market. While the body is massive, it isn't uncomfortable by any means, and features a well-placed thumb rest for added support while playing. Sonically this bass is the closest you'll get to an upright bass in terms of timbre and dynamic range, with a gorgeous, rich resonance. The low register is silky smooth and thumpy when played hard, while the high register remains buttery and balanced in the way you'd expect from a fretless upright. This thing would suit anyone from blues players to Jazz players seeking a fretted alternative to their upright.
