Overview
Produced for only a brief period between 1968 and 1969, the Ibanez 496 was made by Ibanez before their rise to stardom as one of the world's biggest names in guitars. Unlike early 1960s Teisco-aligned builds, the 496 came at just the right time where budget-friendly build quality marginally improved in Japan.
Due to it's limited production run, units are scarce, making this one a rare little find, with many enthusiasts noting the build quality compared to similar guitars of the era.
The 496 has a lightwight body with two gorgeous 'J'-style F holes. The neck feels approachable, with thanks to the slim C shape. With two Maxon single coil pickups, you can expect bright and jangly, yet punchy. For garage rock, surf, blues or indie-rockers, don't look past the Ibanez 496.
