Important Information
With only 3 previous owners in it's lifetime, the 1976 Starcaster is a unique relic of Fender history. This now 50 year old guitar has all original hardware, and is from the first year of production of Starcasters.
Under CBS ownership, Fender was battling quality control problems amidst new cost-cutting initiatives. Enlisting Fender designer Gene Fields, CBS aimed to repurpose stock from the Coronado line, which was competing with the Gibson ES-335. This turned into reimagining the semi-hollow styles into the offset Starcaster - a classic Fender twist on an iconic sound.
Featuring wide range humbuckers, this guitar had some fret work and fretboard refinishing done in the late 80s that has held up extremely well over time. As expected from a vintage guitar, this guitar has been well loved, with some finish cracking as shown in photos.
