The Session GG10 is a dedicated electro-acoustic guitar preamp developed in collaboration with British guitarist Gordon Giltrap. Designed specifically for use with piezo-electric pickups, it addresses the tonal and impedance challenges commonly associated with such systems, offering professional-grade performance for live and studio use
Housed in a rugged steel enclosure familiar from other Session products, the GG10 features high input impedance circuitry optimized for passive or active piezo pickups. This ensures signal integrity, improved transient response, and proper tonal reproduction, especially critical for acoustic guitar applications. The unit can function either as a standalone external preamp for guitars with passive pickups or as an enhancement to existing onboard systems.
The front panel provides extensive tone-shaping via a passive 3-band EQ section, a gain trim control, a switchable hi/lo sensitivity input, and a Hornsaver circuit-a low-pass filter engaging around 5kHz to tame high-frequency harshness and reduce finger noise. This filter also protects sensitive PA tweeters from transient overload. The output section includes a robust level control capable of driving long cable runs up to 100 meters without signal degradation.
The top-mounted footswitch operates as a mute switch by default but can be reconfigured as a bypass switch while retaining active input circuitry. Power is supplied by either a standard 9V battery or any external 9-30V DC or AC source. Battery replacement requires removing the bottom plate via four screws due to CE safety compliance.
