Ashdown Engineering was founded in 1997 by Mark Gooday, former managing director of Trace Elliot, to create superior bass amplifiers. Their first product, the ABM (Ashdown Bass Magnifier) series, gained acclaim for its tonal flexibility, power, and reliability, quickly becoming a staple for bassists. Known for their distinctive VU meters and robust design, Ashdown's amplifiers have been used by renowned artists such as John Entwistle (The Who) and Mark King (Level 42).
