Where are you located?
When are you open?
We're open 10am-5pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, 10am-7pm Thursday, 9am-3pm Saturday, 9am-1pm Sunday and closed Public Holidays.
We also host a low sensory hour every Monday afternoon 4pm-5pm in which no shop music plays, lights are kept low and amps must be used with provided headphones
Is everything second-hand?
About 90% of our stock is second-hand! We recently became an official Reverend dealer and we also get some other products in brand new including Cort, Valencia and Crafter acoustic guitars, Eastwood/Airline and SX electric guitars, plus NUX, Sonar, GojiraFX, MXR, Behringer products and most of our accessories. Everything else is second-hand! This is also indicated in the subtitles of products on our website.
Is your shop wheelchair accessible?
No, unfortunately our shop is not wheelchair accessible. The front entrance has 6 stairs and a square kerb on the road. If you're an ambulatory wheelchair or mobility aid user and able to get inside, the inside of the store is fairly flat and not too cramped though. Please don't hesitate to contact us for any more specifics or if you have any other questions about accessibility at the store, we're always more than happy to accommodate as much as we can!
Can I apply for a job at Southside Guitars?
Yes, you can! Although we don't hire very often, when we do it's usually through people who've come into the store and expressed their interest. Which is exactly what you can do if you're interested in working with us, just bring in your resume and come have a chat! You can also email your resume and we keep these all on file for future job opportunities. If we are publicly hiring any advertisments of available positions will be posted on our social medias/seek.
No playing experience neccessary but general music knowledge/interest is great and retail experience is highly favourable.

I have something I want to sell! Will you guys buy it?
Possibly! We offer direct trade-ins under the discretion of management. All items must be brought into the store for an assessment in person prior to a quote being given. We buy items outright or offer store credit which can be used towards any goods or services at Southside Guitars. We do not offer consignments.
Please keep in mind that selling to a business is much different to selling privately, and you will always get more money out of a private sale on marketplace, gumtree etc. If you're wanting to sell something please bring it in store anytime and remember to bring some photo ID and a secondary ID with you!
Do you offer repairs?
Yes! We do repairs, set-ups and modifications on most instruments and will do everything except paintwork. We do not repair amps, tape machines, hi-fi equipment, synths or pedals, but we'll say yes to pretty much anything else (and have some great contacts for an amp tech or synth/pedal tech if you're stuck)! How long will my repair/service take?
Generally a clean and restring will take 1-2 days and a setup will usually be about a week, however please note these may vary from time to time due to staff hours, volume of repairs etc. Any other repairs are very dependant on what needs to be done, expect several weeks for more complicated repairs. Feel free to contact us or bring your instrument in for a more accurate estimate.
Do you offer music lessons?
No, we no longer provide music lessons at Southside Guitars. However Miss Jenny's Music School does operate out of our building and we highly recommend her!
Do you hire out equipment?
Not usually to individuals. We have previously hired gear out for film, production and performance companies, but it really is on a case-by-case basis and at the discretion of management. Contact us for more details.
Do you have rehearsal rooms?
Not at the moment, unfortunately- maybe in the future, who knows! We recommend heading to Trail Mix Studios just a few doors down!
Do you host in-store gigs/other performance opportunities?
We have hosted in-store gigs in the past and participate in ocassional events, and we're only hoping to expand on these in 2024. Any upcoming events will be posted on our social media and advertised in the store. If you're interested in performing with us in the future please email admin@southsideguitars.com.au or give us a call and we can pop you on our list of cool people to contact when we're looking for performers!

Do you offer lay-by or any buy now pay later services?
Yes, both! We offer ZipPay in-store and online. For more information on ZipPay's terms, and to get started, see their website.
We also offer layby and Afterpay in store only.
Our layby terms are as follows: minimum deposit of 20%, make a second payment within 30 days and repay fully within 3 months at your own pace (in store or over the phone). Please note, as per our layby agreement, if you wish to cancel your layby we are entitled to retain a restocking fee of 20% of the total purchase price (your deposit) as compensation for holding and reserving the item(s).

What kind of warranty do you offer on your products?
We offer a 6 months structural warranty on all second-hand instruments, this does not cover strings, machine heads or electronics. Second-hand electrical items including, but not limited to, effects pedals, amps and synths include a 3 month warranty. Any warranty repairs on items must be processed through Southside Guitars, repairs on products completed by a third party will void warranty and costs will not be covered by us. Any damage caused by misuse or neglect will void warranty. Most brand new items will include some type of warranty through the brand or supplier, not Southside Guitars itself. What is your returns policy?
All returns are offered at the discretion of management depending on the circumstances and reason for return, in accordance with your statutory rights as a consumer. Depending on the reason for return we can offer an exchange with an item of the same value, refund, store credit or repair (if possible, depending on the item and condition).
We reserve the right to refuse a refund if you have simply changed your mind. Any change of mind refunds must be completed within 20 days of purchase and may be charged a 20% restocking fee which covers staff admin and processing time. If you are required to pay the 20% restocking fee, you will receive back 80% of what you paid for the item, providing it is in the same, resalable condition as the time of purchase.

Is the price negotiable?
Not usually. We do our best to keep our prices fair, up to date, and in line with the second-hand market value of the item. This price is also based on the condition and any special features, upgrades or accessories it may come with.
If you're on a tight budget and have some musical items collecting dust at home, keep in mind that we do trade-ins and can generally offer you a little more if you're trading over selling for cash. This can be a great way to save a little on something you've had your eye on, and you're offloading your old gear to a new home in the process! Any items you'd like to trade in must be brought into the store prior to recieving a quote.

Can I get a Southside Guitars gift card?
Yes, we have gift cards available for purchase in-store or over the phone.
Can I get something ordered in? How long will it take?
Yes, as long as we can source it with one of our suppliers. Special orders must be pre-paid and are made at the discretion of management. We usually receive shipments within a week, but it really just depends what you're after. Contact us for more info!
Can I put an item on hold?
We will usually hold items until daily close of business, but this is completely up to the discretion of management. You can also order online through our website and pick up in-store (which will essentially hold the product for you)! Orders are usually fulfilled within a couple hours of us being open.
How much is domestic shipping?

Do you offer international shipping?
No, we don't currently ship internationally.
