This studio-grade FET compressor, featuring high-current, low-noise, discrete Class-A circuitry and a dedicated parallel compression control is contained in one compact, stompbox-sized package. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eIN\u003c\/strong\u003e: controls te dry guitar signal (gain) of the preamp. Also increases amount of compression; guitar becomes increasingly touch sensitive. Too much gain = clipping\/distortion.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eOUT\u003c\/strong\u003e: controls the signal at pedal output. This can be set equal to bypass signal levels for consistent volume, or boosted to help increase volume for solos etc.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eDRY\u003c\/strong\u003e: controls how much dry signal is in the final output. Mixes both the bypass signal and pedal signal. Adjusting both OUT and DRY adjusts the  balance between both signals.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eRATIO\u003c\/strong\u003e: increases compression ratio. At the lowest ratio setting, doubling the input signal (an increase of 100%) will result in the output increasing by 19%. At the highest ratio setting, the output would rise by only 3.5% for the same increase in input signal. The latter case represents \"limiting\". As was the case in the Urei 1176, changing the ratio setting also varies the threshold level of the unit. This helps to keep the output at a consistent level, regardless of settings. lower Ratio settings will provide more gentle, transparent compression, while higher Ratio settings will deliver more aggressive compression with a tightly controlled dynamic range – in other words, the loudest and quietest notes you play will end up at roughly the same level.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eATTACK\u003c\/strong\u003e: The time it takes for the compressor to react to the presence of signal. short attack = precussive, snappy notes, long attack = pronounced beginning of each note.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eRELEASE\u003c\/strong\u003e: same idea as attack, but opposite. The time it takes for the compression to trigger and then return to an idle state. In typical use, release must be set short enough for the compressor to fully recover in the time between notes ending and beginning.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBig ol' light\u003c\/strong\u003e: Red for no compression. Orange for active compression. The brighter the lamp, the greater the gain reduction. Yellow signifies that gain reduction has reached 27dB.
